12th Annual Southern Vermont Garlic & Herb Festival

12th Annual Southern Vermont Garlic & Herb Festival
September 1st & 2nd, 2007
10:00am-5:00pm

The Southern Vermont Garlic and Herb Festival once again claims the glory and distinction of raising the biggest stink in Vermont, so big in fact we have had to move. Our new venue has had to change their name (at least for 1 weekend) from Garelick farms to Garlic Farms. The 12th Annual Southern Vermont Garlic and Herb Festival is scheduled for September 1st & 2nd, 2007 from 10 AM to 5 PM both Saturday and Sunday.

Join garlic-lovers from throughout the North East as they come to sample food and crafts from 50 different vendors all made from - you guessed it - garlic and herbs! Everything from garlic ice cream to garlic jelly, pickled garlic, roasted garlic, garlic braids and, of course, plain garlic bulbs of every variety will be available for sampling and purchase, along with planting and braiding demonstrations as well as cooking demonstrations.

Herbalist Isabelle Hadley will also be on hand to take visitors on "weed walks," where you can learn the valuable uses of every day weeds! For aspiring gardeners, garlic growers, garlic-lovers or those simply looking for a fun way to spend a Vermont end-of-summer day, the event promises something for everyone. Some of the activities this year will be Garlic Golf, get a hole in 1 and win a great prize. There will also be a hay maze, face painting and hair braiding, and other great children's activities. Wander around the spacious lawns sampling garlic delicacies and enjoy the festivities.

Relax at the Beer and Wine Garden under the tent listening to live music both days.

Admission for the day is just $5.00 per person, a 2 day pass for $8, and children 12 and under are $1.00.

The Festival will be held on September 1st & 2nd, 2007 from 10 till 5 both days. The new location is the former Garelic farm at 1545 VT RT 9, 1.5 miles west of the four corners in BENNINGTON VERMONT! Celebrate the end of summer and stock up on that most "stinky" of herbs on Labor Day weekend.

6th Annual Wine Tasting & Adopt-A-Thon

Second Chance Pets

For the past five years our Bennington Tasting Room has hosted and sponsored a Wine Tasting & Adopt-A-Thon with Second Chance Animal Center, the local humane society. Although one might think of wine tasting and pet adoptions to be an odd combination, rest assured this event is a huge success and gets more and more popular every year!

The 2006 event saw six adoptions as a result of our efforts and we raised over $500 for Second Chance. Many thanks to all who came out in support of this very important community cause.

The 6th Annual Wine Tasting & Adopt-A-Thon is sure to be another success! For more information on this event please email Matt Burdick.

In the meantime, please visit Second Chance Animal Center to learn more about their mission and all of the animals they have available for adoption!

Whitingham Maple Festival

gathering maple syrup The 2006 Whitingham Maple Festival was another success. Families from all over New England and the country toured 9 maple sugarhouses, gathered sap in the woods, helped boil the sap into delicious Vermont maple syrup, and enjoyed the Vermont outdoors.

In addition to maple sugarhouse tours, the North River Winery, located within walking distance from the event starting point, was open for free wine tastings and tours.

The 2007 maple festival is sure to be another hit. For more information on the event please visit the link below!
